Dance Lab, an immersive summer study at Colorado State University
The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance invites dancers
to register for CSU Dance Lab taking place August 2-15, 2026
at the University Center for the Arts in Fort Collins.
CSU Dance Lab is a college preparatory summer program offering immersive study in artistry, choreography, performance, and community.
Dancers receive daily instruction Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:00pm with performances on Saturdays. Week 1 culminates in a free informal performance. Week 2 performance showcase is a public event which requires purchased tickets for admission.
CSU Dance Lab is recommended for dancers ages 14+ with prior dance training at the intermediate-advance level.

Week 1: August 3-8 (Mandatory orientation on Sunday, August 2nd at 2pm for all dancers ages 14+ attending Week 1)
Week 2: August 10-15 (Mandatory meeting on Sunday, August 9th at 2pm for all dancers ages 14+ attending Week 2)
CSU Dance Lab Minis is a youth program introducing participants to a variety of dance styles.
Dancers will receive daily instruction Monday-Friday 9:00am -12:00pm with a performance on Saturday. Week 1 culminates in a free informal performance. Week 2 performance showcase is a public event which requires purchased tickets for admission. $250 per week.
No prior dance experience or training is needed. Dancers must bring their own water bottle and snack. For the safety of others, please do not pack any foods containing nuts.

Current CSU Dance Majors chosen through a rigorous application process supervise residential minors throughout the program.
Incoming CSU Dance Majors with fall room assignments are eligible for early move-in on campus for Week 2. Lodging is NOT included in CSU Dance Lab registration and tuition rates and will be billed directly through the CSU Housing and Dining Services.
Can a family/friends visit with participants during the program?
No outside guests are permitted at the hotel at any time. Parents/guardians may sign their children out with the RA if they wish to visit during the program.
What about meals?
For residential students, breakfast and lunch are included in the price of room and board fees. Each evening, dancers will dine as a group at the hotel or nearby restaurants. Dinners are not included in the cost of room and board and must be purchased by each individual using cash or credit card. Commuter students should bring their own lunch. Commuter students are welcome to join residential students for dinners, but must provide their own payment and transportation.
Where do commuter students park?
Carpooling or drop-off is highly recommended. If you will be bringing a car to campus, you must purchase on-campus parking in your registration. This option secures you a virtual parking permit with access to park in lot 575, 625, and South College Ave Garage, nearest to the University Center for the Arts (UCA). Parking permits provide access for the duration of the event, August 2-15, 2026. Students who bike to campus may secure their bicycles to the bike-rack using their own lock. Visit the CSU Police Department to register your bicycle and receive a barcode sticker.
What happens if I get sick or injured?
It is our goal to keep our dancers as healthy as possible, but in the event of illness or injury, the CSU Health and Medical Center is located 0.3 miles from the University Center for the Arts. If the injury is minor, students can choose to observe daily classes. In the event of serious illness, students will be kept in their rooms with an RA on site.
Are there scholarship opportunities?
A nominal amount of tuition scholarships are awarded at recruitment events such as national high school dance festival.
What should I wear?
Students should wear a solid color leotard/shirt with tights or leggings and hair secured back from face. Bare feet, ballet shoes, pointes, shoes, jazz shoes, and socks may be used.
What should I pack?
Clothing:
- Solid color leotards
- Black and pink tights
- Ballet shoes
- Pointe shoes (if applicable)
- Black bike shorts
- Nude leotard
- Yoga pants/leggings
- Athletic tops (no bare midriffs please)
- Warm ups
- Casual summer clothes (average temperatures 56℉ evenings, 84 ℉ afternoons)
- Bathing suit
- 2-3 Dressier outfits
- Closed toed shoes/sneakers
- Sweatshirt or fleece
- Pajamas
- Socks/slippers
- Rain jacket or poncho
Personal Items:
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Shampoo, conditioner, soap
- Deodorant
- Sunscreen
- Comb, brush, hair pins, hair net, hair spray
- Stage makeup: foundation, blush, eye liner, eye shadow, mascara, false eyelashes, lipstick, makeup remover
